Dr Bhavsar (BSc, PhD, University College London) at the Biology Department, Leyton Sixth Form College proudly presents this channel to support all students of A Level Biology. The aim of the videos is to help you with the key biological ideas that apply to all exam boards. Our lecture-style videos cover year one and year two and is updated to the current A level specification. The channel is run by Dr Parag Bhavsar, with valuable contributions from his colleagues at LSC. We welcome your questions (and will respond as quickly as possible) and recommendations for future videos. We wish you the best of luck in your scientific career.

Catch-up A level biology: light microscopes

I'm following the OCR A spec but the bitesize nature should make most of these videos relevant to you as long you're doing A level biology. The video asks and answers three essential questions, and once I've gone through it, I invite you to try and repeat the process to embed thi...

How to make a table of results for practical investigations
Просмотров 774Год назад
It seems a minor thing, I mean how important are tables really? But you will make tables for almost all of your practical investigations, you need to know this for the exam, and when you get to uni you don't want all the other students pointing and laughing at your results tables do you? There are more rules to table-making than one would think, so I have put them here to give you a guide.

A demonstration of dissecting celery stem, staining with toIuidine blue and viewing with a light microscope. I show how to calibrate the microscope eyepiece graticule with a stage micrometer. I will be following this up with how to do the drawings and adding a scale/magnification.

Process vs Prize

A thought about the increased stress, anxiety and performance issues in second year A levels. Why is that we start doing a subject we really like, and then it becomes so stressful? what can we do about it?
Definitely not watching this the night before my a level 😭
This video is helpful ❤️
This man is so underrated fr, he has helped me a lot and I'm impressed cos i don't understand what some teachers teach online

Hi, have you stopped making videos?
Your videos are great! Are you able to do the other topics for SNAB? ~I have noticed you've done topic 1, 5 and 8 but the other topics would be so great too!!
tysm!
Thanks u can teach us more
is it just me...or is he kinda...🤭
thank you so much
Not me still using this for my biomed degree 😂😂😂
I still use these videos for my degree in biomed, THANK YOUU 🫶✨
Hi Dr. Bhavsar! I’ve been browsing through your videos all day due to a recent change in my educational curriculum. I used to take HKDSEs, then IGCSEs, then IB SL Bio… but am now currently undergoing a month of cramped revision before taking my Edexcel International A-Level Biology Exams with the 6 papers. I’m unfamiliar with the latter topics such as Gene Expression, Reproduction and Inheritance, Microbiology/Immunity Forensics, and the Muscular Movement. I was wondering if there might be any possible extra video explanations and resources I could go through from you, as they have significantly given me a way more precise and to the point explanations to many of the topics and major questions I should ‘rewrite from scratch ;) Please let me know if there is any way for me to access any further resources; and I would be more than happy to contribute financially/in any way towards more possible videos on these topics. Many thanks and it’s a blessing to have found a teacher that provides such guidance as you.
This is a long video but respectfully, the yapping is very effective <3
Very nice...❤
Do you recommend that I make summary sheets for each topics by using the specification alongside the textbook and revision guide , or only use one in conjunction with the specification
my teacher said that siRNA works because it binds to the complementary mRNA section and makes it double stranded so it can no longer bind to the ribosome and be translated. Is that also right?
the way she explained it suggested that SiRNA was just a single stranded RNA which binded to the mRNA section complementary to it. and because it made that section double stranded it would not longer be read by the ribosome and be translated
Dr Bhavsar the GOAT, you're a LEGEND!
can you please briefly describe the difference between humoral immunity and cell mediated immunity. I just know that humoral immunity involves action of B cells but cell mediated immunity involved action of T cells
This was super helpful, thank you for your work!!
Hey, is there a way i can calculate my blood pressure by heart rate?
Thx dr
IN 3:29 you said that it will have a reduced blood vessle diameter. Why though? If the afferent tubule has an increased diameter?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

You rock!
Definitely a legend! Thank you for this AWESOME video!
Hey quick question here! How do you Transfer the unit Abs into Au? Because I saw some other similar Experiments and they had huge number for the absorbance of light measured in Au?
Thank you 18:49
great video thank you !!!
Phenomenal!

Brilliant! Thanks Dr.
Thank you so much! You certainly did help connect everything with a REASON
